Abdul Karim Disu
Abdul Karim Disu (born October 10, 1912) was a Nigerian journalist and the first Nigerian to earn a post-graduate degree in journalism when he attended Columbia University in 1944.〔Daily Times, "Who's who in Nigeria: A biographical dictionary", 2ed., (Times Press Apapa, Nigeria 1971), LCCN: 72186005〕 During the nation's independence era, he became the Permanent Secretary to the Governor General, Nnamdi Azikiwe and was later appointed to the post of Director of Information in the Nigerian Ministry of Information.
Disu was born on October 10, 1912, he attended King's College, Lagos and then Lincoln University, Pennsylvania as well as Harvard Law School before postgraduate research at Columbia. Prior to attending University, he worked as a clerk with the Nigerian Marine from 1931-1938. In 1955, he became an associate editor of the West African Pilot. After his stint at the Pilot, he became the general manager of the Eastern Information Service.
==Personal life==
Abdul Karim Disu married Rose Onyedinma during his working spell in the Nigerian Eastern Region in the Early 1960s. They had four children.
